PII.01.e1 Astrocytoma with astroblastic architecture (MT x100). Astrocytomas sometimes exhibit large vascular foot plates lying perpendicular to the vessel walls. This "astroblastic" pattern differs from the felt-like perivascular fibrillary mantle characteristic of fibrillary astrocytoma and the perivascular fibrillary pseudorosette characteristic of ependymoma. Certain authors consider this astroblastic arrangement typical of a tumour entity distinct from astrocytoma, called astroblastoma.
